Adoptathon Staffing
Franklin County Humane Society
adoptathons are held twice a month at the Wake Forest or Garner
PetsMarts. Adoptathons provide those interested in adopting
a dog/cat an opportunity to meet our wonderful animals. They
also provide us, as volunteers, an opportunity to meet prospective
FCHS adoptive owners, answer their questions, and screen prospective
owners to determine if they can provide a permanent loving home
for a FCHS dog/cat. Adopting a FCHS animal is a lifelong commitment
and is to be taken very seriously. Therefore, we do everything
possible to find the best match between a dog/cat and its adoptive
owner.
Fundraising and Publicity
Plan or assist with publicity
activities such as staffing fundraisers, putting up posters,
placing ads, and making phone calls or other tasks that help
us find homes for our dogs/cats. Willing hands required, innovative
minds a plus. Be a part of our fundraising team and help plan
or assist with either large or small activities. Experience
is not necessary.
Foster Care
We believe that every dog/cat
deserves a good home with a loving family. Until we can find
each dog/cat this type of home, all dogs/cats are kept in the
loving care of their foster guardian. Foster guardians open
their homes and hearts to the many dogs/cats that need FCHS’s
help. They handle a multitude of responsibilities including:
feeding the dog/cat a healthy diet, providing a safe home, vet
visit transportation, medication, and lots of love to the animals
until they can be adopted into a loving, permanent home.
Dog/Cat Transportation
Provide transportation of dogs/cats
to adoptathons, vet appointments or other locations.

Socialization Counselors
Socialization is important in
the personality development of all dogs/cats. It is necessary
to help dogs/cats get along well with others; to become a well
behaved member of its future adoptive family; and to be a confident
and psychologically healthy pet. FCHS socialization volunteers
work with animals exposing them to different people, places
and things.
